Full-grain leather is the highest quality grade of leather available. It comes from the top layer of the hide and includes all of the natural grain. Unlike other types of leather, it hasn’t been sanded, buffed, or corrected to remove imperfections. This means it shows the hide’s natural texture and markings, making each piece unique.
Because it's the most durable and breathable part of the hide, full-grain leather develops a rich patina over time—aging beautifully and getting better with use. At République Leather, we exclusively use full-grain leather to ensure our products are not only premium in quality but also made to last.

Unlike corrected or genuine leather, it isn’t sanded or treated to remove marks—so it’s stronger, more durable, and develops a rich patina over time. Lower-grade leathers are often buffed, painted, or split, which can reduce quality and character.
